Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Business Expansion and Sales in Tampa
Publix Super Markets has paid $7.25 million to purchase one of its existing stores in Tampa. The 6.29-acre property was built in 1977. Real Estate Investment company Marcus & Millichap helped to broker the deal and revealed the bidding resulted in an offer that was $1.25 million more than the asking price.
Two properties in Riverview and Lutz, whose tenant is EoS Fitness, have been sold as part of a $94 million sale of a seven-property portfolio in Florida and Arizona. Both gyms are currently being constructed, and it’s expected they’ll be open for business later this year. According to property records, the buyer is San Diego-based Realty Income.
Flying To and From Tampa Just Got Easier
Porter Airlines is to begin direct daily flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport from Tampa International Airport starting on November 1 this year. Porter will use its new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft for the service. CEO of Tampa Airport Joe Lopano said in a press release, “Canadians love the Tampa Bay region and everything it has to offer, and we know this will be a popular new option for both business and leisure travelers”. The service will feature free wireless internet, free beer and wine, and premium snacks. Kevin Jackson, Porter’s EVP and chief commercial officer, said “Porter’s onboard service for economy passengers is unmatched by any other carrier in North America. We believe that time onboard our planes is just as important a part of a trip as the destination.”
Spirit Airlines is also set to add four new direct flights from Tampa to southern cities; Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, Charleston International Airport in South Carolina, Norfolk International Airport in Virginia and Richmond International Airport in Virginia. Seasonal daily flights to Boston’s Logan International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and Indianapolis International Airport in Indiana from October 5, and to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Philadelphia International Airport, and Pittsburgh International Airport from November 15.
Tampa’s Impressive Medical Landscape
Work on a new four-story hospital in Tampa has broken ground. Construction on Tampa General Hospital‘s Behavioral Health Hospital began when officials from Tampa General Hospital, Lifepoint Behavioral Health and USF Health threw shovels of dirt at the site. Current plans are for the new hospital to open in late 2024. Hospital CEO John Couris said “the demand for mental and behavioral health services is higher than ever before. … The TGH Behavioral Health Hospital will significantly expand Floridians’ access to mental health services, and our patients can expect the world-class care we consistently deliver at TGH.” The hospital will offer 96-120 inpatient beds and dedicated units for those living with behavioral health issues exacerbated by other medical conditions.
Tampa’s Moffitt Cancer Center has been recognized by Forbes on its “America’s Best-in-State Employer” list, presented in association with Statista Inc. Amy Durham, vice president of the center’s human resources operations, said, “To know this award is based on feedback from our team members, who remain focused every day on our mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer, is especially meaningful”. The evaluation is based on three criteria; those involved in the study were asked to note if their employers stood out positively or negatively, as well as other employers within their industries that stood out positively or negatively. They were also asked to rate the likelihood of recommending their employers. According to Moffitt, it has an economic impact in the state of $2.4 billion.
A Tampa Bay medical training school has bought the American Institute, which focuses on health care training and has five campuses in Connecticut and New Jersey. With headquarters in Tampa, Ultimate Medical Academy has said it will expand into the north with the acquisition. President of UMA Tom Rametta said, “Our nation faces a tremendous challenge of recruiting and training millions of new people to join the ranks of healthcare professionals in hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, doctor’s offices and more … With this acquisition, UMA will amplify our ability to educate a steady pipeline of graduates to join the healthcare workforce.”
