Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Tampa Bay, Epicenter of Culture
Tampa’s culinary scene is getting more exciting by the day. Four new dining destinations have been added to the prestigious Michelin Guide, strengthening Tampa’s reputation as a hotspot for foodies and culinary professionals alike. The locations added to the Guide are Big Ray’s Fish Camp, Cousin Vinny’s Sandwich Co., Fisk, and Mad Dogs & Englishmen. Big Ray’s serves up delicious delights like blackened shrimp, Cuban-style yucca, and the incredible-sounding lobster tail corn dog. Lovers of New York-style Italian American dishes should head to Cousin Vinny’s and enjoy their homemade schiacciata. Fisk offers a more refined experience, and diners will get to try smoked salmon eclairs, red snapper, steak, and schnitzel. A Tampa staple since 1991, Mad Dogs has recently opened in a new location and continues to serve up food you’d find in any British pub, including a traditional ploughman’s lunch, fish and chips, and ‘bangers’ and mash.
Fans of hit show ‘The White Lotus’ can attend an exclusive, one-night-only dinner inspired by the series, at the JW Marriott Clearwater, on Thursday April 3rd. Included in the $199 ticket price is a three-course meal, with cocktail pairings using Tanqueray Gin and Ketel One Vodka. Event organizers promise to “bring the glamour and mystery of the series to life under the stars.” If anyone attends the event, get in touch to let us know what it was like!
The University of South Florida has received a record $2.5 million gift to be invested in its art college. Pete and Cynthia Zinober gifted the amount to the University, having previously been deeply involved in the local cultural scene. Pete has played key roles in state arts organizations, including The Florida Orchestra and Cynthia served as the former director of the Henry B. Plant Museum. The School of Music’s concert hall will be renamed the “Peter and Cynthia Zinober Concert Hall.” Jay Stroman, USF Foundation CEO, said he was “profoundly grateful” for the contribution, and noted it will “inspire and benefit our students for generations to come.”
Business Growth and Leadership in Tampa
In a move that marks a return to its original business model, Hooters is shifting back to franchisee-led leadership. This shift will allow more localized ownership and tailored growth strategies, which could revitalize the brand’s operations and lead to expansion in key markets. With strong ties to Tampa Bay, this change signals a new era of growth and investment in one of the region’s most recognizable brands. As businesses continue to grow and change, Tampa remains a prime location for innovation and economic development.
The Moffitt Cancer Center has named Josh Carpenter as president of SPEROS FL, “Florida’s global innovation hub where science, technology and patient care join forces in the fight against cancer.” Carpenter previously served as president and CEO of Southern Research, “a nonprofit contract research organization with more than 80 years of experience in drug discovery and development.” He was able to raise over $100 million in capital to go towards an expansion of the organization’s laboratory. Of his appointment, Carpenter said: “Together with Moffitt and our industry partners, we will build a place where science, technology and medicine unite to create a healthier future for all”, stating that “Speros is about bringing hope—to cancer patients, scientists, physicians and the broader community”.
Tampa Bay’s Latest Development and Investments
A new luxury development at 1000 Boulevard of the Arts has been announced by Kolter Group. The development will feature residential condominiums, as well as a Hyatt Centric Harborside Hotel. The mixed-use project will combine upscale accommodations, residential units, and retail space, making it a prime attraction for tourists and locals alike. Sarasota’s thriving downtown area continues to draw significant investment, and this development is expected to further enhance the region’s status as a premier destination. The luxury condos will start at $1.4 million, and the hotel will offer 174 guest rooms, and event space featuring a ballroom, as well as a resort-style pool and bar. Construction is expected to get started in Q4 of 2025.
Tampa-based Precision Build has made a strategic move by acquiring Tampa Steel Erecting Company, further strengthening its position in the construction industry. This acquisition is expected to enhance the company’s capabilities in infrastructure and large-scale building projects, creating more job opportunities and boosting Tampa’s local economy. Tampa Steel was founded in 1945, and since then has grown operations to include not only industrial contracts, but full fabrication capabilities too, as well as steel bridges, which are now the focus of the company. Precision Build formed in 2020 as a result of a merger between Tampa Tank Inc.-Florida Structural Steel and Precision Tank Inc.
