Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.

The Rays’ Return
After spending the 2025 season playing at Steinbrenner Field, the Tampa Bay Rays are returning home to a rebuilt Tropicana Field. Hurricane Milton tore off the stadium’s roof in October 2024, triggering a nearly $60 million restoration effort by the City of St. Petersburg. Workers replaced the roof panel by panel, installed new artificial turf, and overhauled the lighting, audio, and video systems. The Rays’ home opener against the Chicago Cubs on April 6 marks the first time fans have set foot inside the Trop since the storm. Upgrades include new premium seating areas, a reimagined all-inclusive SkyDeck above left field, and an expanded main videoboard.

Tampa Bay Development
Clearwater Executive Airport is moving on from the double-wide trailer that has served as its terminal since 2004. The Clearwater City Council voted to approve a $13.6 million construction contract with Bandes Construction for a new two-story, nearly 18,000-square-foot facility. The upgraded terminal will include flight simulators, an improved flight operations area, and a community meeting room. Airport operator FlyUSA, which manages the site on behalf of the city, will contribute its share of the costs. The project is backed by state and federal funding and is part of a broader effort to grow business and private aviation activity across Pinellas County.
Nearly two years after Hurricane Helene tore apart the Dunedin Marina, the community is making meaningful progress on a full rebuild. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna secured over $828,000 in federal funding specifically to reconstruct the pier section used by the Clearwater Ferry, the service that connects Dunedin to Clearwater Beach and Downtown Clearwater. When the original pier was destroyed in September 2024, ferry service to Dunedin was halted for over a year. The broader marina restoration, covering the fishing pier, docks, and seawall, is part of a $10 million project, with completion targeted by the end of 2026.
Tampa’s luxury residential market has reached another landmark with the completion of the second tower at the Ritz-Carlton Residences on Bayshore Boulevard. Developer Related Group delivered the 30-story building, which contains 94 condominium homes and five villas. The project was designed by Miami firm Arquitectonica with interiors by New York-based Meyer Davis, and it brings legendary Ritz-Carlton service, including a dedicated concierge and daily continental breakfast, into a fully private ownership model. Remaining units are priced between $1.89 million and $7.85 million, with inventory narrowing fast.
Pottery Barn is heading back to Tampa, and this time it’s bringing the full family. Permits filed at International Plaza reveal plans for both a Pottery Barn and a Pottery Barn Kids location, following the brand’s earlier departure from Hyde Park Village. The news comes as Simon Property Group unveiled a major redevelopment of International Plaza as part of a combined $250 million investment across three of its flagship shopping centres. Plans for the Tampa property include a 50,000-square-foot open-air expansion, updates to the Bay Street corridor, and interior renovations throughout. Construction is expected to begin later in 2026.
Tampa Tech
Saint Leo University is taking a bold step to future-proof every graduate it produces. Starting in fall 2026, all students, regardless of major, will be required to complete AI and digital skills training as a condition of graduation. The initiative is powered by a new partnership with IBM, using its SkillsBuild platform to deliver industry-recognised credentials in data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, woven directly into existing coursework. University president Dr. Jim Burkee says the goal is simple: ensure every graduate enters the workforce AI-certified and digitally fluent. Graduates will also be able to return annually for a free IBM certification refresh.
A Florida emergency physician has founded a robotics company with a mission to reclaim the hours hospitals lose every day to patient transport delays. Dr. David Crabb created Rovex Technologies after observing that patients cleared for tests routinely waited over an hour simply to be moved down the hall, because hospitals face more transport demand than their teams can absorb. His autonomous robot, Rovi, attaches to a standard hospital stretcher and tows it independently through corridors and elevators at around two miles per hour, with full teleoperation backup. In February 2026, Rovex opened its first base at spARK Labs in St. Petersburg to support its planned debut deployment in the Tampa Bay area.
