We’re going to cover all the goings-on in the Tampa Bay area, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa. This month, it’s all about new job opportunities opening up in Tampa, and there are a lot!
Tampa and Pinellas County have survived the military’s first cut in the fight to become home to the Space Force headquarters. If the headquarters are established in Tampa Bay, it could create 1,400 jobs for both civilians and military personnel. Not only that, it could attract more military and aerospace businesses to the area. The purpose of the Space Force is to protect U.S. and allied interests in space. This new branch will unite operations across the country’s armed forces. A final decision on where the headquarters will be based is expected to be made in 2021.
A company founded in the UK will begin its presence in the United States in Tampa, having considered Denver, Boston and Atlanta as other possible sites. iO Associates is an information technology and digital staffing firm, and aims to create 40 jobs in a new downtown Tampa Bay office, located at the Wells Fargo Center on Ashley Drive. iO’s technical meetups, for which it’s known, have enjoyed a boom during quarantine, and regularly host over 300 attendees in the U.K. Recruitment in the Tampa Bay branch will focus on AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
International law firm Baker McKenzie promised to create at least 300 jobs in the Tampa Bay area when it opened up its office there, and is hoping to keep that promise in spite of the continuing coronavirus pandemic. It’s already created around 200 jobs in its downtown Tampa support center, after considering 15 other locations for the office. One of the reasons Tampa was the number one choice to host their office is because of how close it is to top universities and law schools, which will be ideal for recruiting talent.
International companies continue to invest in Tampa Bay, despite Covid-19. In the past week, the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council has revealed that two international companies have established themselves in Tampa, one of which is the aforementioned iO Associates. The other is Incofilt, a company based in Colombia that manufactures industrial filters, and Tampa Bay will host its first operations in the U.S., as Delasierra Filters Technology. iO Associates managing director Mark Lloyd cited developments in the Tampa area, such as Water Street, as a key reason they made the decision to base their office here.
