Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Constructing Tampa
The construction firm that will work on the Tampa Museum of Art’s expansion plans has been announced. The Houston-based Beck Group, which has had a presence in Tampa for a long time, will be in charge of constructing the museum’s Centennial Expansion project. According to the museum’s website, Tampa “is booming” and the “increasing population, community development, and fast-growing markets demand for more exhibition, education, special events and sustainability programming from the Tampa Museum of Art”. It was these demands that led to the development of the expansion. This new stage of development will build on the previously completed 25,000-square-foot renovation of existing space at the museum, including a redesigned lobby and store, and seven new gallery spaces.
The Tampa Bay Rays have received final approval for the construction of their new, $1.2 billion stadium. The new ballpark will be located in downtown St. Petersburg. Of the deal being finalized, Tampa Bay Rays president Matt Silverman said: “Just walking in the building this morning, there’s a sense of relief, but more so euphoria”. Plans for the new stadium include 30,000 seats, new stores, and a museum of Black history. Crucially, the Rays and Hines development group have promised to create 30,000 construction jobs and 7,000 permanent jobs, reserving some for historically disadvantaged locals. Groundbreaking is set for January 2025.
Moving Tampa Bay Forward
Sarasota Paradise, a pre-professional men’s soccer team, has received a purchase of interest by the family that owns a national construction company, which has an office located in Tampa. The Papanicholas family, of Nicholas & Associates, had become a jersey sponsor for the 2024 season and now, according to a news release, will “provide extensive knowledge and resources to design and develop short-term and long-term facility strategies and capital improvements that will benefit the team and community.” Nick Papanicholas, Jr., president of Nicholas and Associates and managing member of the entity created to join the Sarasota Paradise ownership, said it “was a natural fit” for the company. Sarasota Paradise was created when Marcus Walfridson, a Swedish entrepreneur, fell in love with Sarasota and saw the need for a local soccer team.
Tampa is set to be the home of a new location of the popular Japanese bargain store, Daiso. The store will be located in Northdale Promenade, and will open sometime in Q1 2025. It will be the first of two Daiso shops in Florida. Daiso is known for its huge variety of stock, including items for the home, stationary, and health and beauty products, and has enjoyed expansion across the United States since entering the market here in 2005.
There will be six senior-focused primary care centers opening up in Tampa over the next year, in sites previously home to Walmart Health centers. These spaces will be leased by Walmart to CenterWell, which is the healthcare services side of Humana. With healthcare plans designed for seniors, CenterWell promises their “doctors and care teams listen” and spend “50% more one-on-one time with each patient”. Previously closed down by Walmart in April due to a lack of profitability, the new centers will be run under the names CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Conviva Care Centers.
