Happy Holidays, everyone! Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Tampa Looks to the Future
Hill Ward Henderson, the Tampa-based law firm, has signed a lease renewal for its office in Bank of America Plaza in the city’s business district. According to a press release, the firm will “continue to occupy the 35th through the 38th floors of the building, with a total footprint of approximately 83,000 square feet.” The company has been a tenant of 101 E. Kennedy Blvd. since 1986. Managing Shareholder Robert M. Fulton referred to the decision as a “commitment to the Tampa Bay region and specifically downtown Tampa” and added “it is a privilege to be a part of our region’s thriving downtown business community.” He also noted that the renewal would allow the firm to “maintain and expand” its practice and business platform, and positions the firm for “future growth to serve our burgeoning community and client base.”
Construction work has begun on a new senior living community, the fifth collaboration of its kind between CORE Construction and Experience Senior Living. The Gallery at South Tampa has been “designed to offer multiple care options, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.” It will span 240,613 square feet, and will include a wide range of amenities, including a movie theater, casual dining options, a smart fitness center, resort-style pool and salon. CORE’s President, Scott Olthoff, said “the CORE team is thrilled to be working with Experience Senior Living on this significant project.”
Porter, the Canadian economy airline, is now offering nonstop flights to Ottawa from Tampa and Fort Myers. There will be four departures a week between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Tampa International Airport (TPA), as well as three weekly flights from Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). In a press release, Porter’s senior vice president and chief commercial officer Edmond Eldebs said: “As one of the largest carriers operating out of Ottawa, we’re pleased to add these seasonal routes to give travelers more options when they’re planning their winter travel to Florida.” The release also noted that all economy passengers will enjoy “complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, free premium snacks and no middle seats on any flight” as well as free WiFi on the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
Akima, a defense contractor based in northern Virginia that offers military IT support, has opened an office in Tampa. The company will continue to provide support to the nearby MacDill Air Force Base. Akima offers preventative maintenance and repairs, with the goal of allowing operations to run more smoothly at the base. The office is located at The Pointe in Tampa’s Rocky Point neighborhood. Bill Monet, president and CEO of Akima, said the company is “committed to Tampa Bay and its community for the long term” and explained they are “excited about putting down roots here and becoming a permanent member of the local business community.”
Business Booms in Tampa Bay
An investor from South Florida has paid $5.8 million for an industrial property off Interstate 75, on Tampa’s east side. Redfearn Capital, based in Delray Beach, bought the property, at 10301 Fisher Ave., adding to its $750 million worth of assets across three states. According to Redfearn’s website, the tenant, Wesco Anixter, has called the property home since 1998, “showing its commitment to the location and functionality of the building.”
Four Florida restaurants have made OpenTable’s Top Restaurants in 2024. Tampa’s Bern’s Steakhouse, Dry Dockside Waterfront Grill on Longboat Key and Sails Restaurant in Naples were all included on the list, which is based on the opinions of diners across the country. Deciding metrics include reviews, ratings, demand for reservation sports and percentage of five-star reviews. Bern’s Steakhouse boasts “one of the largest wine collections in the world” and an “internationally famous dessert room.” Time to make a reservation!
