Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Tampa’s Expansions and Developments
The developer of an affordable housing community for senior citizens has received $750,000 from the City of Tampa as part of Florida’s State Housing Initiative Program. The program is “designed to serve very low-, low- and moderate-income families” and, through a grant, developers at New South Residential will continue on to the second phase of its Madison Highlands development. It will feature 102 units, age restricted to those aged 55 and up, and will also offer a game room, fitness center, pool, and picnic pavilion, among other amenities.
The Mahaffey Apartment Company, a Florida-based development firm that has, according to its website, built “23 apartment communities with 20,000 individual apartments across Central Florida as well as Indianapolis, Indiana”, has received a $97 million loan through Goldman Sachs to pay for construction of its 610-unit apartment community. It will offer one, two and three-bedroom units, with in-unit laundry, a pool, and a dog park. Construction is set to begin soon.
A Chinese hot pot and Korean barbecue chain has expanded its presence in the Tampa area by buying space in Brandon for $2.65 million, from National Net Lease. Hong BBQ & Hot Pot bought the space, which used to be the home of Black Rock Bar & Grill, and plans to give it a complete makeover in order to maintain consistency with its other locations. The chain has locations in Tampa and Bradenton, and also has plans to open a restaurant in Lakeland soon. According to its website, the restaurant offers “many different styles” of broth for its Chinese hot pot, and allows customers to choose from a “vast selection of beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and various vegetables” to cook on Korean-style barbecue grills.
In other food-related news, Tampa Bay restaurant Noble Crust is planning to open a new concept in St. Petersburg. Located in the Tru by Hilton hotel in St. Pete’s Downtown Central Avenue, Noble Tavern will be “a polished casual craft cocktail bar with creative culinary dishes that takes the atmosphere of an old world tavern”. If that sounds like something you can get down with, you’ll be pleased to know that owner TJ Thielbar has revealed they plan to open the tavern by the end of the year.
Looking Ahead in Tampa
The Tampa Bay Times had a question for Destin tourism officials following the release of Taylor Swift’s hotly-anticipated album, The Tortured Poets Department, which includes a song named “Florida!!!”. The Times wondered whether Swift’s song, which references Destin, had had an impact on tourism numbers as more Florida-themed content began to popup on Instagram and TikTok. According to the Times, the director of tourism for Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Jennifer Adams, said they had “been fielding a lot of calls in the welcome center” and had noticed a spike in Google searches for Destin. Maybe Tampa Bay will get a shoutout on her next album?!
Suncoast Credit Union, the Tampa-based financial institution and Florida’s largest credit union, has announced the launch of its new treasury management services, which will offer its business members “a suite of commercial products and services including automated clearing house, remote deposit capture, and fraud prevention tools.” In partnership with Tru Treasury, Suncoast aims to assist business members in maximizing efficiency and control in payment processes, as well as simplifying billing in order to receive payments faster, eliminating paper checks, and “providing innovative, personalized solutions that empower business members to thrive and remain competitive in today’s dynamic business environment.” President and CEO Kevin Johnson hopes the release of these new services has positioned Suncoast “competitively among other commercial financial institutions”.
