Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Advancing Tampa
A technology company in Tampa has closed its Series A financing round with an impressive total of $19.7 million. Stella Automotive AI, which according to the company website is “an artificial intelligence digital voice assistant that can answer an unlimited number of calls simultaneously, route calls, answer frequently asked questions and book service appointments” plans to use the funds to continue developing its product offering and increase growth in the market. CEO Rich Sands said: “The excitement the market is showing for Stella’s AI technology is thrilling.”
A restaurant chain serving breakfast, brunch and lunch has added a second location in the Tampa Bay area. Based in South Carolina, Eggs Up Grill opened up at the Bayside Bridge Plaza in Clearwater, serving up delights like coastal crab cake benedict, Southern bowls, avocado toast and more. It’s open from 6am to 2pm daily. Local entrepreneurs, and brothers, will head up the location as franchise partners. John and Anthony Corso grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and helped in their father’s deli, leading to a love and appreciation of the restaurant industry. Anthony Corso said in a new release: “Once we realized [the restaurant is] a franchise and that there were such limited choices for traditional, American breakfast done well in the Clearwater area, we knew it was the perfect fit for us.”
Tampa Looks to the Future
More amenities are coming to Water Street Tampa! Real estate development firm Strategic Property Partners announced that an entertainment venue, new office building and residential tower will be added to the development. There are currently no details on what the additions will look like, or when construction will begin, but SPP did reveal they believe construction will take around three years in total.
The latest figures show that tourism is continuing to boom in Hillsborough County. According to a report from Visit Tampa Bay, tourist development taxes collected in February reached $7.28 million, an increase of more than 7% from last year, and over 21% from 2022. It happens to be the second highest month in the history of Hillsborough County, beaten only by March of 2023, which saw a total of $7.79 million. One huge driver of these impressive results are the region’s hotels, which generated $121.5 million in taxable revenue throughout February. Visit Tampa Bay also recently released another exciting update regarding the Tampa Riverwalk Attraction Pass, revealing that, last year, there was a 72% increase YOY from 2022, and an increase of $85,000 in revenue. Clearly, Tampa Bay continues to be the destination of choice for many, many people!
A technology firm based in Scotland is set to open its North American hub in Tampa with an office and operations center that will eventually hire 100 employees. Systal Technology Solutions, which is headquartered in Glasgow, offers “consultative, project and managed support services” to “empower enterprises to deliver seamless digital workplace and AI services.” The company’s CEO Neil Nicolson said the company is “tapping into an exciting region with world-class IT talent, outstanding universities and a rapidly growing technology community that complements Systal’s ambitions.”
Overseas Shipholding Group, a Tampa-based shipping company, has received a grant worth $3 million from the United States Department of Energy that will go toward the designing and engineering of a new vessel used to transport liquified carbon dioxide. In a news release, OSG President and CEO Sam Norton explained that the grant was given as part of efforts by the Department of Energy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to achieve net zero carbon by 2050. He said: “OSG has an extensive track record as a leading provider of energy transportation of adopting new technologies and developing innovative solutions to meet our country’s energy needs.”
