Tampa’s Real Estate and Development News
Luxury real estate is reaching new heights in St. Petersburg as the Waldorf Astoria Residences officially launches sales. The highly anticipated development, which will result in the tallest building in the city, will be the first hotel-branded condominium. It intends to blend iconic branding with an unmatched waterfront location, bringing hotel-style living to St. Petersburg. Prices start at $2.5 million, while penthouses will be going for as much as $10 million. The tower will be managed by Hilton, and is set to cost around $100 million. Miami-based Property Markets Group will collaborate with Feldman Equities, which is headquartered in St. Petersburg. PMG CEO and Founder Kevin Maloney announced: “St. Petersburg has become one of Florida’s premier residential destinations, with an influx of new residents driving the demand for high caliber of exceptional properties”.
In Sarasota, vertical progress is in full swing as the Owen luxury condominium project on Golden Gate Point reaches its structural pinnacle. The boutique 10-story building, developed by WB Golden Gate Point LLC, will offer just 29 units, ensuring exclusivity and spacious living. Most units have already been sold, and prices exceed $3 million. With sweeping views of Sarasota Bay and a sleek architectural design, Owen joins the city’s growing portfolio of upscale waterfront properties. Completion is expected later this year.
Tampa: Center of Innovation
Tampa startup Improving Aviation is taking off—literally and figuratively—thanks to a developing relationship with Google. Initially focusing its efforts on drone technology, Improving Aviation is using its tech to aid in wildfire prediction and disaster response. According to its website, Improving Aviation’s “secret sauce” is “a modular platform that connects to vehicles, sensors, and external systems to convert raw data into accurate information in real-time”. Using Google AI, the startup was able to demonstrate its WindTL wildfire risk software’s ability to “predict fire risks with unprecedented accuracy.”
Shaun Stucky, CFO of Florida Urology Partners, has been named a 2025 CFO of the Year honoree by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. According to a press release, Stucky has “been an instrumental force in shaping the financial strategy and positioning of the organization.” His tireless efforts have led to “new opportunities, ensuring long-term growth and excellence in patient care.” Florida Urology Partners’ goal is to “provide exceptional urological care, enabling patients to lead fulfilling lives” and it is “committed to advocate for urological wellness”.
Community Matters in Tampa
Small businesses across Tampa Bay received a big win this week thanks to our very own Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Glazer family, who have awarded grants to 99 additional local businesses. The owners of Tampa’s NFL team have already granted a generous amount of funding to those most affected by the recent devastating hurricanes. The family pledged $2 million to hurricane relief efforts, with $1 million going to the Small Business Fund.
In Polk County, the Florida Department of Transportation has officially broken ground on an $18 million wildlife crossing along I-4, designed to protect local animals from vehicle collisions. The overpass, part of a larger effort to promote ecological connectivity across Central Florida, will allow a variety of species to move safely beneath the highway. With many people moving to Polk County, the threat of increased traffic on the roads has become overwhelming. Brent Setchell, FDOT District 1 Drainage Design Engineer, said: “There are over 100,000 vehicles a day that travel on that section of roadway, and so it’s almost impossible for wildlife to safely cross the road.” It’s hoped that connecting wildlife in both the north and south sides of the I-4, something which hasn’t happened in over 40 years, will encourage genetic diversity.
