Let’s take a look at everything that’s happening in the Tampa Bay area, what’s coming up in the next few weeks and months, and how Ready Stays is here for your month-to-month rental needs in Tampa.
Cruise Car, based in Sarasota, has recently tripled its workforce, and increased its factory space from 15,000 to 50,000 square feet. This follows a huge rise in sales; according to a press release, sales have increased by five times over the last two years. This recent success is being attributed to the company’s affiliation with Moke America. Cruise Car is the exclusive assembler and distributor for Moke in North America.
Arbor Towne Square, a shopping center in Fort Myers, has been acquired by an investment entity for over $5 million. Tenants in the center include Domino’s Pizza, Goodwill, Walgreens and Pinch A Penny. The center was most recently bought three years ago by Seagate Development Group. In a statement, Seagate CEO and Partner Matt Price said the center is in “a prime location”.
Orlando-based developer ZOM Living has secured over $36 million to build a 289-unit rental complex of luxury apartments just outside Tampa. The company announced in a statement that the funds had come from a loan and investment from JPMorgan Chase. ZOM has built 23,000 units worth $4.5 billion in its 40 years of operation, and the development comes off the back of exciting economic growth in Tampa. The apartments will make up seven buildings over a 13-acre site. Kyle Clayton, senior vice president for ZOM’s Florida market, said the company has already built 1,200 units in Tampa Bay in the last five years, investing around $230 million in total.
A record-breaking number of passengers travelled through Southwest Florida International Airport in July. Over 810,000 people used the airport, a number which is, unsurprisingly, a huge increase (up 218%) from the same time in 2020, when many were reluctant to travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, the airport catered to nearly six million passengers, and is in the top 50 airports in the country for passenger traffic. It seems that confidence in travelling is on the rise.
A residential tower in downtown St. Petersburg has sold for a reported $149 million. Real estate research firm the CoStar Group called the purchase of Icon Central “the priciest apartment sale in the city and the third-priciest apartment sale in the Tampa Bay area in a decade.” The tower was completed in 2019, and units range from studio to three bedrooms, with the most expensive rent amount coming in at $7,744. The 15,000-square-foot retail space at the base of the building was bought by Miami-based Tricera Capital in July.
A master-planned community in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, is expanding, with plans for three new tenants that will open in the 36-acre Waterside Place development. It plans to open this fall, with new additions including Bella Vita Italian restaurant, Bay Area Aesthetics and Lakewood Ranch Medical Group. CEO of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Andy Guz expects the facility to hire two staff who’ll be able to see up to 60 patients a day. In the future, the Waterside development will offer over 5,000 homes, for sale and to rent, with higher prices reaching around $2 million.
